We're serious about privacy. We want to make sure that we are transparent and open about the way we use your data to make your experience better.

This document is our Privacy Policy. It describes what information we collect from you and how we use it. Our Privacy Policy applies to our website at, our mobile website, our mobile application, and all other services Studybuddy provides. It covers account information - which is information the we can link to you personally. This includes data like your name, email address, phone number, or mobile device’s unique identifier, and generic location data.

As with the nature of technology, Studybuddy reserves the right to update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes in the law, our data use & collection, the features of our services, or advances in technology. Please check this page periodically for changes.

1. Why do we need your information?

We only collect your personal information when we need it to provide you with a tailored experience. When we do collect your information, we store it and associate it with your account unless otherwise noted. We will only use and disclose this information under the terms described in this Privacy Policy. The information is kept for the time necessary to provide the service requested by you, or stated by the purposes outlined in this document. You can at anytime request that your information be deleted from our database.

2. What we collect.

  • a. Registration information

    To create an account, we use information retrieved from your Facebook public profile (name, email) and education history. Additionally, we ask for your phone number to allow for communication to other users. This number will be masked.

  • b. Credit card information

    To make and receive payments, we collect your credit card number, expiration date, and security code. Studybuddy uses a third-party payment processor (Stripe) and therefore has only limited information about your payment transactions.

  • c. Geographical information (Location)

    When you use the mobile application, we may use GPS technology (or other similar technology) to determine your current location in order to determine the city you are located within and display a location map with relevant data. We may share your current location with other users or partners. If you do not want us to use your location for the purposes set forth above, you should turn off the location services for the mobile application located in your account settings or in your mobile phone settings and/or within the mobile application.

  • d. Device information

    Our servers automatically record certain information about your mobile device to better understand the pain points and aggregate anonymous usage patterns of our users. This information may include information such as an equipment identifier (e.g., IMEI, UDID), subscriber identifier (e.g., IMSI), device name, device type and manufacturer, operating system type and version, network type, country of origin, Internet Protocol (“IP”) address, and the dates and times of your requests.

3. Third-parties and your data.

We may share some or all of your data mentioned in the Registration information with third-party services. You will be notified as soon as possible when this occurs and for what reason. We may also disclose your information without your knowlege if required by law, such as to comply with a subpoena, or similar legal process. Additionally, we may also disclose your information if we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, protect your safety or the safety of others, investigate fraud, or respond to a government request. This extends to our trusted services providers who work on our behalf, do not have an independent use of the information we disclose to them, and have agreed to adhere to the rules set forth in this privacy statement

4. Cookies.

Like many online services, we use cookies and other tools to collect and analyze information about you and your usage of our services. We also use these technologies to deliver content for relevant Lookout products and services. Cookies are small data files that we transfer to your computer. We use “session” cookies to keep you logged in while you use our services, to better understand how you interact with our services, and to monitor aggregate usage and web traffic information on our services. Session cookies disappear when you log out and close your browser.

Most Internet browsers automatically accept cookies, but you can change your settings or use third-party tools to refuse cookies or prompt you before accepting cookies from the websites you visit. You can also use your browser settings or other tools to delete cookies you already have. Please be aware that some parts of our services may not work for you if you disable cookies.

  • a. Google Analytics

    These cookies allow us to see how you use our website and mobile application so that we can improve your experience. We encourage you to read the Google Privacy Policy. If you don’t want data reported by Google Analytics, you can install the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

    • 5. Age

      We do not use the Application to knowingly solicit data from, or market to children under the age of 13. If a parent or guardian becomes aware that his or her child has provided us with information without their consent, he or she should contact us at We will delete such information from our database within a reasonable time.

      6. Your consent

      To reiterate, by using our services, you are consenting to our processing of your information as described in this Privacy Policy. This means using our site, mobile applications, and Studybuddy services or using or touching information in any way, including, but not limited to, collecting, storing, deleting, using, combining and disclosing information, all of which will take place in the Canada. If you reside outside the Canada your information will be transferred, processed and stored there under Canadian privacy standards.
